Counselling: Lynda Lawrence MBACP
I
have been awarded a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and I offer individual or couple counselling.
I am trained as a pluralistic counsellor which means that I believe that different approaches to counselling work for different people at different points of time. This allows me to move from different theoretical models when I am working with you depending on your wishes and needs. I work with a cognitive behavioural approach, psychodynamic, attachment focused, person centred and solution focused therapy.
Counselling can benefit everyone and aims to address people’s life problems in a safe environment where you will be listened to without fear of criticism or judgement. Our relationship is really important to me and I would want to work in a flexible and collaborative way to ensure that you feel comfortable and empowered in our sessions together.
My experiences have taught me compassion, how to listen empathically and to be supportive without judgement. I have vast experience of working with families, individuals and couples.
I was a social worker for over 20 years working with children and their families prior to being a counsellor with 10 years of that specialising in adoption and fostering supporting adoptive families and birth families providing adoption support and birth record counselling. I retrained in 2016 as a counsellor at Abertay University.
I can offer short or long- term counselling and we will decide together what is right for you. You can come along for an initial half hour session to discuss your needs so we can ensure that counselling is the right thing for you at this point in your life.
I also offer online counselling for people in the UK through the secure platform of Zoom if you are unable to get to Beingwell. Get in touch and I can send you further information on how this works.
